#PoliteAF tutorial | ColourPop

As regular readers know, I have been completely obsessed with ColourPop lately. Although this beauty brand is super affordable, the products are amazing quality that feel high-end–I’ve been especially loving the label’s eyeshadows.

I am by no means a professional; in fact, until recently, eyeshadow slightly terrified me. ColourPop’s formulas, however changed that. The Super Shock Shadows, as well as the Pressed Powder Shadows, are incredibly pigmented, beautiful colors with gorgeous finishes. But not only that: they’re some of the most blend-able, easy-to-work-with shadows I’ve ever used.

When ColourPop’s holiday collection launched, I just *had* to get my hands on some of it. You guys already know how much I’ve been loving the Golden State Of Mind palette, but I also invested in the Polite AF Super Shock Shadow set.

Full of gorgeous metallic shades like cranberry and gold, this set is perfect for the holiday season.

For Thanksgiving I created somewhat of a smoky look with Polite AF, and I loved the results so much that I decided to put together a quick tutorial for Haute Mess readers.

(*I received this product as a part of Sephora’s Beauty Insider program during my birthday month.)

Step 1: Prep the skin by applying Pore Refiner Primer evenly to the t-zone, working towards the outer perimeter of the face. Apply Balm Dotcom to the lips.

Step 2: Using the same technique used to apply Mattifying Gel Moisturizer, apply a light layer of BB Cream. If necessary, apply an additional layer where more coverage is needed.

Step 3: Conceal the under eyes, blemishes and redness with Shape Tape. Blend with the fingers.

Step 4: Set the entire face with Wowder, focusing on the t-zone and under-eye areas. Finish with a generous amount of setting spray and allow to dry.

Step 5: Carve out the cheekbones with Mocha by applying it directly to the skin. Begin application from the upper corner of the ear, working downwards diagonally. Tap with the fingers to blend.

Step 6: Continue to apply Mocha to the temples and under the center of the lip for a subtle plumping effect. Again, tap with fingers to blend.

Step 7: Apply Capri Coast to the hollows of the cheeks, the temples and the hairline in a circular buffing motion.

Step 8: To brighten up the face, add a little Paaarty to the apples of the cheeks using the same circular buffing motion.

Step 9: In a “C” shape along the orbital eye bone to the cheekbone, apply Haloscope directly to the skin, then tap along the edges with the fingers to blend. Add Haloscope to the cupid’s bow using the pinky finger.

Step 10: Apply a little Primer Potion to the eye area.

Step 11: Set the primer with Gimme Gorgeous on a fluffy blending brush.

Step 12: With the same fluffy blending brush, apply Birthday Cake to the crease. Continue to buff the eyeshadow upward and outward for a blown out effect.

Step 13: Apply Stereo into the crease, continuing into the outer “V” of the eye with a crease brush. Make sure to blend evenly.

Step 14: Pack Birthday Girl onto the lid with a flat shader brush. For more intense color payoff, dampen the brush before dipping into the shadow. Use the fluffy blending brush to create a seamless transition between colors.

Step 15: Smudge Stereo onto the lower lash line with a pencil brush, then dust Birthday Cake/Birthday Girl on top.

Step 16: Highlight the brow bone and the inner corner of the eye with Haloscope.

Step 17: Beginning in the center of each brow and working towards the inner and outer corners, apply Boy Brow in an upward motion. Add a second coat for a more dramatic look.

Step 18: Finish with more setting spray.

Step 19: After combing and curling the lashes, apply two coats of mascara to both the top and bottom lashes.

Step 20: Apply 2-3 coats of Chihuahua to the lips. Be sure to angle to the applicator so that you line your lips neatly with the product.
