The ultimate summer party dress

Hot days and balmy nights call for celebrations! After hibernating pretty much the entire time between New Year’s Day and the first warm weekend of the year, I am definitely ready for outdoor gatherings. Trips to L.A., which has become my second home, definitely helped, but it always kind of sucked returning to cold and snowy NYC. (Not to mention, we had a snowstorm the first week of April. I was so over it.)

All the killer rooftop spots in Manhattan, plus the excuse to get out of the city by visiting family upstate, leave me with a pretty packed social schedule.

This past weekend, I took a trip to Connecticut to celebrate. (BTW–Did you see all the beauty essentials I packed in a single Glossier Pink Pouch for my trip? I had so much fun participating in the #PinkPouchPostcard challenge! To discover everything I managed to fit in the 1-liter pouch, head over to Instagram.)

For the festivities I wore a colorfully striped maxi dress from Reformation. Because it was actually sort of chilly this weekend (highs in the 60s), I wasn’t ready to show my toes yet. So, I opted for ankle booties. This brown snake-print pair is super worn-in and really added to the boho-inspired vibes of the relaxed dress. They add interesting and unexpected texture to any look without overpowering it.

I kept my makeup mostly natural with a peachy-bronze flush on my cheeks, and let the humidity style my hair for me 😉
